Watching an eclipse…from a Concorde

Standing in one spot as an eclipse happens and totality lasts for just a few minutes is for chumps. Real eclipse enthusiasts (well, scientists) take a prototype Concorde jetliner to 60,000 feet and chase the moon’s shadow for 74 minutes of continuous eclipse darkness over the African continent. This actually happened, in 1973:
